Today our Student Council hosted new students with a "Welcome to NPS" breakfast.
Each Grade 1 class created a “How to Show Respect” anchor chart, where each child had the opportunity to draw and/or write their own ways to show respect in the classroom, at home, or at after school activities. Students got to place their idea on a class chart paper. This chart will be displayed in class to remind the first graders to treat others the way they want to be treated.
In Kindergarten, students started their first writing unit; We are Authors by making posters. Students were able to think of an idea they love, sketch it out, and add details and labels. Some topics that students selected included, family, places and toys.
Second graders are exploring how a character feels in their independent reading books. They learned that they can use the illustrations, the text, and what the character says as clues to figure out how they are feeling!
